September 17th: World Patient Safety Day
Every year, September 17th marks World Patient Safety Day, established by the World Health Organization (WHO) to promote patient safety as a priority for improving healthcare globally. The objective of the day is to raise awareness among managers, healthcare workers, patients and their families on the topic of healthcare safety.
World Patient Safety Day reaches its sixth edition on Tuesday 17 September 2024. The day was established in 2019 by the 72nd World Health Assembly through the adoption of resolution WHA72.6 – “Global action on patient safety”.
